Penclawdd Match Report

It's ironic in the first time in years the month of November is an Autumn international free zone for us all to play some rugby, Mother Nature had other ideas with "Abigail" and
"Barney" putting pay to the first 2 weeks of the month. The 3rd sat though was a lot calmer and Maes Dafydd was able to witness some action. Penclawdd were the visitors and although they were a bitter thin on the ground numbers wise, they still looked a decent outfit. We played up the hill first half and started strongly but it was Penclawdd who put the first points on the board through a penalty and an unconverted try. Everything was still going ok our set piece was fine and we put it through the hands a couple of times for our back three to have a run but couldn't turn anything into points. Penclawdd capitalised on this, finishing the half the stronger, with a fine converted try and a penalty. Half Time score Seven Seconds 0 - Penclawdd 18. It was a funny old half, we squandered a few try scoring opportunities but with the slope and the wind we were certainly still in the game, unfortunately one of our players had an early bath, so it was going to be a little bit harder numerically. Penclawdd started with a bang and scored an early converted try but the killer blow for us came when we had a scrum 5 yards out on their line marching over in full control. The ball inches from their line then ricocheted out of the scrum and 4-5 phases later in the same passage Penclawdd raced the full length of the field to score under our posts. To compile our misery they then called passive scrums. One more penalty was kicked by the opposition to finish the game. Final Score Seven Sisters 0 - Penclawdd 35. Penclawdd fully deserved the win but the score did flatter them a bit and it was just one of those days from our perspective and let's just say the "stars didn't really align for us last sat afternoon". Never mind it's back in the horse this sat with a trip down the west of Swansea to Swansea uplands.
